3. Start composting. Check out some great ways to compost indoors here.
4. Eat raw. Buy foods that don’t need to be microwaved or cooked, instead eat healthy fruits and veggies in between dining hall meals.
5. Buy used. Don’t buy all new supplies check out the campus classified ads and get what you need broken in (and cheaper!)
6. Use a fan. Don’t turn that window air conditioner on instead use a fan to cool the room.
7. Ditch the plastic water bottle. Find some great reusable options here andhere.
8. Choose organic cotton. Your sheets and towels can be eco-friendly too when you pick organic cotton, here are some great options.
9. Use power strips. By plugging all of your electronics into power strips and being sure to turn them off when you’re not in the room you can save tons of energy.

Decoupage!

Looking for another craft to kill time and brighten up your room, house, or apartment? Well, here is a nifty (and sticky) idea!

DECOUPAGE! …all you need is Mod Podge

Find something in your house that needs a new look or stop by the Dollarama, Value Village or any other store to find something you want to decoupage! You’ll also need to pick up some Mod Podge (depending on what materials you plan on using there are different types of mod podge available, you may also want an acrylic sealer to finish it), probably a foam paintbrush if you don’t have one lying around already and some pretty patterned paper or fabric to stick onto whatever object you want to decoupage!

Step 1: Make sure that the object you are covering is completely clean and dry. Cut out the pictures (or whatever you are using) so they are ready to glue on.
Step 2: Lay out the pictures onto your object in the desired pattern you want, then working in small sections at a time, remove the pictures and either spread glue onto the back of the picture or onto the object directly.
Step 3: Place the pictures back onto their desired spots and try to push out any bubbles. Let it dry completely!
Step 4: Once dried, apply a finishing coat on top of the pictures to seal it all together. You may want to continue adding on layers after the previous one dries to smooth down the edges and get the desired effect. And voila! You have a wonderfully decoupaged table, frame, vase (or whatever it was) to add to you fabulous rooms!

Now go get sticking! Pro’s tip – keep a damp cloth near by to wipe off any sticky glue! ef
